Bad Shots – Pulls and Fades, Heavy strikes
This session was our first working together, we looked at your game and we could see that you were struggling with your consistency when on the golf course, you were hitting a number of shots left to right and were struggling with heavy shots.
We firstly looked at your set up and we spotted that the shoulders were sitting open at the set up, as you can see from the stills above the picture o the right shows the original swing, and you can see that the only arm visible is the right this is a sign that the shoulders are aiming to the right, this will cause the club to chop across the ball through impact.
Now compare the still on the let hand side shows the difference when the shoulders are square, look at how the left arm is lightly visible at the set up position, this shows that the shoulders are now matching the feet and rest of the body.
Practise
- Feel the left arm has a slight bend at set up
- Keep the shoulders square

Foot Movement
As we looked into the down swing we could see that the feet were totally inactive, you tend to dominate the swing too much with your upper body which means that you are losing a great deal of power and also accuracy.
We worked on the feel of the left foot working through impact, this then meant that the weight was moving forward through the golf ball and there was more connection between the upper and lower body.
Compare the two pictures, on the right the foots is flat and the weight is not working through the golf ball and now look at the still on the left hand side the left foot is moving up and the weight is moving forwards.
Practise
- Feel the left foot moving up and turning into impact
- Shoulders Square
- Smooth rhythm

Follow Through
This is where the huge change has taken place, if you compare the two pictures you can see that the follow through on the right is flat footed and the body arcs to the left as you have swung only using your upper body while your left foot anchors you down and stops you from following through.
Now compare this to the swing on the left where the left foot has moved up and rotated so that the sole of the shoe faces the target at the finish of the swing.
Look at how all the weight has now moved through the ball and is on to the right side of the body at the end of the swing.
Pay close attention to the fantastic follow through of the arms and how you are facing the target at the end of the swing and the spine is in a straight line
